SACRAMENTS OF FIRST PENANCE/FIRST EUCHARIST - Children are typically prepared for these two sacraments during our Religious Education classes.  First Penance and First Eucharist are conferred upon children during the second grade, usually just after Easter.

Sacramental preparation for First Penance/First Eucharist is coordinated through our Religious Education office.  Please call 225-654-5885 for details and/or to register your child for Religious Education--continuing faith formation in the Catholic Church.

Children who enter the Catholic Church later in life may have to have specialized formation through our RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) program and should also be coordinated through the office of Religious Education.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION - Confirmation is celebrated with students in the eleventh grade who have been enrolled in Catholic secondary school or the Religious Education Program in grades nine through eleven, and who complete sacramental preparation in the parish.

SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY -Couples must contact Father Bayhi at least four to six months prior

to the proposed wedding date.  A preparation program is required.  Note:  to download a helpful list of items for consideration when planning your Catholic wedding, click here.

DIVORCED?/QUESTIONS ABOUT ANNULMENTS? -Contact the Parish Office at 225.654.5778 to become reconciled with the church or click here.  It may not be as difficult as you think.

LAST RITES-ANOINTING OF THE SICK -Have a family member or health care professional call the office at 654-5778.  If anointing is needed after hours (state of emergency where it appears that death is imminent), the voice mail system at the office will give instructions on how to leave a call for after-hours assistance.

Note:  This is a sacrament; once you receive last rites, there is no need to be anointed again, however, to bring comfort to your loved one, our priests will certainly make repeat visits to hear confessions, offer Holy Communion, and bring comfort to those in need.  We encourage you to be anointed, whenever possible, before you reach a state of emergency, especially before major surgery or when the sacrament is offered

to parishioners at various times throughout the year.

CARE OF THE SICK -Emergency calls are answered immediately, when possible.  Visits to homebound

parishioners will be conducted on a regular basis.  Please notify the parish office when you or a family

member have been confined to hospital or home. Please contact the office staff if you would like to receive

meals prepared by our home ministry group, Helping Families Heal, during your recuperation.

CHRISTIAN BURIAL -Families should contact the parish office for funeral arrangements.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC?-Those persons who are interested in learning more about the Roman Catholic Church, or those who were Baptized Catholic but did not receive additional instruction/formation in the Catholic Church can enroll in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program, which typically continues from August/September until full entry in the church at the Easter Vigil.  Interested parties should contact Joey Hebert, RCIA Coordinator, at 225-658-5599.  For additional information, visit our RCIA page on this website.
